Douglas R. Brown, 64, of West Des Moines passed away on November 1, 2011 at Mercy Hospital. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, November 5, 2011 at McLaren’s Chapel. Visitation with the family will be from 10 a.m. until service time on Saturday.
Douglas was born on February 10, 1947 in Moline, IL the son of Robert and Helen (Penca) Brown. He graduated from high school and attended St. Ambrose University. He married Sharon Busenbark on October 20, 1967. He was an engineer for the Rock Island Railroad and was promoted to safety officer and was then yard master for the Chicago Northwestern Railroad. The last 20 years he was a Sr. Adjuster for EMC Insurance.
Douglas loved classical music, touring America’s castles and especially his family.
He is survived by his wife Sharon of West Des Moines; two sons, Daniel (Penny) Brown of West Des Moines and Joshua (Chris) Brown of Des Moines; daughter Sarah Kate Brown of Panora and grandchildren Hannah, Calvin, Eric, Jack, William, Robert and Shad. Douglas was preceded in death by his mother and father.
