Betty Triggs, 79, passed away at Mercy Medical Center on Wednesday, September 8, 2010 after a brief illness. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday at McLaren’s Chapel with burial at Resthaven Cemetery.
Betty was born in Dubuque, Iowa, graduated from Lincoln High School and was a lifelong Des Moines area resident. She worked in parking enforcement for the City of Des Moines Police Department for 33 years before retiring in 1996. She then worked part-time for Mercy Generations and Senior Suites of Urbandale. Betty enjoyed traveling, cruises and had a great love for her family and helping people.
Betty is survived by her son, Perry (Terri) Triggs of Altoona; two grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Pauline Niznik of Minneapolis, MN; several nieces and nephews; and long-time friend, Terry (Marilyn) Nielsen of Urbandale. She was preceded in death by her husband, Perry, four brothers and one sister.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at McLaren’s Chapel. Memorial contributions may be given to the American Cancer Society or Hospice of Central Iowa.
