Eva "Eve" A Collins

Eva “Eve” A. Collins passed away on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at Ramsey Village in Des Moines. Funeral services to celebrate her life will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, February 19th at McLaren’s Resthaven Chapel, with interment following at Resthaven Cemetery.

Eve was born on December 1, 1936, in Albany, Georgia. She married James “Jim” L. Collins, Sr. on July 30, 1954, in Albany, where Jim was stationed with the United States Marine Corps. Throughout her life, Eve devoted herself to her family as a homemaker. Together, Eve and Jim shared a passion for square dancing and were active members of the Square Dance Association in Des Moines. Their love for dance was only matched by Eve’s deep affection for her family, including her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. She was always actively involved in their lives and activities. Over their 54 years of marriage, Eve and Jim made their home in several places, including Des Moines, Iowa; Fort Worth, Texas; West Des Moines, Iowa; Albuquerque, New Mexico; and, since 1995, rural Earlham, Iowa.

Eve is survived by her two daughters, Julie (Doug) Oscarson of Earlham, IA, and Linda Gray of Redfield, IA; her son, James L. Collins, Jr. of Redfield, IA; and her sister, Helen (Sidney) Bush of Albany, GA. She is also survived by four grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren. Eve was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James L. Collins; her parents, Charles and Bertha Gregorie; her three brothers, John A., Charles C., and Robert G. Gregorie; and a half-brother, James M. Robinson.

Family and friends are invited to visitation from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM on Thursday the 19th at McLaren’s Chapel, prior to the service.
