Jackie was born on September 25, 1951, in Des Moines to Charlie and Marge (Ermilio) Leo. She met her second husband, Albert, at a Park Avenue PTA meeting. Together “Meme” and Albert blended families. She was a dedicated mother who stayed at home to raise her beautiful children. Her hobbies included decorating cakes, ceramics, and macramé. She was a member of Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd in Des Moines.
She was preceded in death by her parents Charlie and Marge Leo. Surviving Jackie is her loving husband of 39 years, Albert; sister Lisa (Mike) Fried; children Karen Armel-Towne of Des Moines, Jennifer (Rob) Swacker of Milo, Joshua of Ankeny, and Mary Meadows Keener of Des Moines; grandchildren Tyler, Teana, Tayler (Jordan), Katie, Patience (Matt), Amber (Joe), Robby, Nicholas, Abigail, Tera (Matt), and Angela (Scott); and many friends. She was a great grandmother and an aunt to many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 4-6 pm on Wednesday, March 24, at McLaren’s Resthaven Chapel. The funeral service will immediately follow the visitation at 6 pm. Private entombment will be at Resthaven Mausoleum. Memorials may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
