Jean Marie Jensen

Jean Marie Jensen, 81, of West Des Moines, passed away September 8, 2012 at Taylor House Hospice in Des Moines. Visitation will be held at McLaren’s Chapel on Tuesday, September 11 from 5-7 pm with a Rosary following. Mass of Christian Burial will be at Sacred Heart Church in West Des Moines at 10 am on Wednesday, September 12, with cremation following.

Jean was born November 25, 1930 in Davenport, Iowa. She was a graduate of the Immaculate Conception Academy and St. Anthony’s School of Nursing. She was a dedicated Registered Nurse at Des Moines General Hospital and Charter Hospital in Des Moines. Upon retirement, Jean kept herself busy by volunteering with the Des Moines Convention and Visitors Bureau, Jordan House, and the Blood Center of Iowa. She was also an active member of Sacred Heart Parish.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents, Martin and Viola McMahon; her husband Leo; her brothers John McMahon and James McMahon; her niece Michelle McMahon; and her beloved Labrador Retriever, Yukon. She is survived by her brother Martin (Cathy) McMahon of Davenport, IA; her six children, Joseph (Victoria) Jensen of Houston, TX; Nathan Jensen of Knoxville, IA; Ann Vulcano, Margaret (Phil) Patterson, Andrew (Lori) Jensen and Mary (Neil) Ohnemus, all of Des Moines, and six grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made in Jean’s name to Sacred Heart Parish or Animal Rescue League of Iowa.
