John was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Sally Mortoza.
He is survived by his son, Travis D. Williams of Urbandale, Iowa and sisters, Sue Payne of Melrose and Sharon Bagby of Des Moines.
John loved his family never missing the opportunity to celebrate together. He enjoyed the outdoors and spent many hours with his nephews hunting and fishing.
John graduated in 1977 from Valley High School in West Des Moines where he gave his all playing football. When his son started playing football in elementary school and continued playing through high school and college, John attended every game without fail. He beamed with pride.
John started his own masonry company and soon became known for his fairness, dependability and exceptional job performance. His work ethic was second to none and John took great pride in his accomplishments.
There will be a celebration of life at a later date where we hope friends and family will come together and share stories and memories.
