Kathryn Marie Powers, 80, passed away November 8, 2025 at StoryPoint in Urbandale. Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday, November 24, 2025 at Westkirk Presbyterian Church in Urbandale with a visitation from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will follow the service at Resthaven Cemetery.
Kathryn was born January 29, 1945 in Meltonville, IA to Frederick and Esther (Hulshizer) Kruse. She graduated from St. Ansgar High School and then went on to attend AIB where she received a diploma in court reporting. Kathryn married Donald Powers on January 7, 1967 in Des Moines. She enjoyed playing piano, traveling, needlepoint and crochet, gardening (especially flowers), visiting the Iowa State Fair, and spending time with her grandchildren. She enjoyed the many visits of family and friends during her stay in memory care.
Kathryn is survived by her daughter, Michelle “Mimi” Powers, grandson, Nicholas Cialone; and granddaughters, Isabelle and Nina Cialone. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald; brother, Dennis Kruse; and her parents.
