Linda Kay Shelburg

Linda was born on March 10, 1946, at the Ottumwa hospital. She lived in Hiteman, IA and graduated from Albia High School. After graduation she moved to Des Moines to work at Bankers Life Insurance. Her last job was with Nationwide Insurance working in Foreclosures.

In October 1979, she married the love of her life, PK Shelburg after a whirlwind 8 months. They met at the Des Moines Community Playhouse where PK was trying out for a play and Linda was volunteering. They celebrated 41 years of marriage before his 2020 death.

While PK was the love of her life, animals – ALL creatures, big and small – were her passion and brought her much joy! As a young child, she met a family member’s English Bulldog. From that moment on, bulldogs were her passion in life. She owned 12 bulldogs in her lifetime, mentored and supported those new to bulldog ownership, had numerous litters of puppies, multiple show dogs (even a few champions) and one that was Drake’s most beautiful Bulldog contest winner. At the time of her passing, she had Jett who is now living his best life with the Bell Family & Griff II, the Drake University mascot. Shout out to

Linda was a founding member of the Bulldog Club of Central Iowa. She spent time volunteering her love and knowledge of animals to various organizations. She was heavily involved in bulldog rescue.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Jim and Wilma Ferguson and husband PK Shelburg. Left to keep her memories alive are sister Sandy McCombs, niece Kelly Stanley (Doug), nephews Steve McCombs (Valerie), Jim McCombs (Renee), Stepdaughter Dori Fulton (Ron), stepson Erik Shelburg (Jennifer). Grandkids Sierra Perkins (Nick Meirick), Colt and Cassidy Shelburg, Rachel Fulton (Kent Follett), Reid Fulton (Brooke). Several great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.
