Visitation will be from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. Sunday, January 25, 2026 at McLaren's Resthaven Chapel in West Des Moines. A celebration of her life will follow from 5:00 to 7:30 p.m. Sunday, at The Corner Tap, 1960 Grand Ave, West Des Moines, IA 50265. ISU Cyclone colors and dress is encouraged.
Born on November 17, 1960, in Pierre, South Dakota, Lisa was the beloved daughter of Joanne (nee Fjelstad) and Donald Heuer. She was preceded in death by her father, Donald Heuer, and is survived by her son, Nick Heuer and daughter in law, Daisy Heuer (nee Lemke); mother, Joanne Reed; brothers, Donald and Darin Heuer; and her cats, Jet and Abby.
Lisa was an extraordinary mother; compassionate, selfless, and fiercely loving. Her generosity of spirit touched everyone who knew her and those she had just met.
A lifelong sports enthusiast, she loved her Iowa State Cyclones with unmatched energy, pride, and spirit. On game days, she would be one of the first Spirit Walk tailgate tents - to high five players and coaches. She preferred a game day hug convinced it would deliver better results. She coveted the first-row position to hear the band play the ISU fight song - believing she could sing over them. When you next sing the second lyric of the fight song “And may her colors ever fly,” you’ll undoubtedly think of Lisa. On most weekends, you could find her at Kingdom Hoops; where she became a familiar, steady presence for countless athletes, coaches, and families. Lisa advocated for athletes with unwavering dedication and quickly earned the affection of many.
Lisa’s legacy is one of kindness, loyalty, and love—a life lived in service to others and a heart that always had room for one more.
She will be deeply missed by her family, her friends, and the many young people whose lives she touched.
If you ever said “Love You” to Lisa, you were guaranteed that familiar reply: “Love You More”
