Mary K. Shineflew

Mary K. Shineflew, 67, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on Sunday, August 22, 2010 at Taylor Hospice House. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, August 25, 2010 at McLaren’s Chapel in West Des Moines with interment at Jordan Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at McLaren’s.

She was born on August 17, 1943 to Miguel and Lupe (Vasquez) Murillo. Mary was a lifetime resident of Valley Junction, West Des Moines and currently resided at Valley View Village.

She was a proud mother and grandmother. Mary was “One of a Kind” that never met a stranger.

Her hobbies were listening to Van and Bonnie every morning, being outside, gardening, walking, bingo, listening and dancing to music, volunteering at WDM senior citizen luncheons where she loved to go and visit with everyone.

She is survived by her four children; Richard (Robin) McGinn, Angie (Jeff) Davis, Dwight (Milissa) Shineflew, June E. Shineflew; seven grandchildren, Nicholas, Bianca, John, Kyle, Austin, Aubriegh and Hunter; two brothers Raymond (Ruth) Murillo and Miguel Murillo; aunt Josephine Cuveas and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Everette Murillo, grandchildren, Colten and Briannon Shineflew and her longtime companion, Ron Sellers.

Memorials may be given to the West Des Moines Senior Center.
