

Nancy Chapman-Dieterich, 93, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Wednesday, March 26, 2025 at Walnut Ridge in Clive, Iowa. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, March 31, 2025 at the Walnut Ridge Chapel. A family graveside service will be held later at Riverside Cemetery in South Rockwood, Michigan.
Nancy was born on July 20, 1931 in Monroe, Michigan to Hugh S. and Celia K. (Reichert) Osborne. She graduated from Monroe High School in 1949 and Western Michigan University in 1951 with a two-year Secretarial Degree. She married Delmont L. Chapman III in 1951 and they were married for 46 years before he passed away in 1997.
Nancy was a homemaker who enjoyed golfing, reading, playing bridge, traveling (traveled around the world in 1987 with Del), needlework of all sorts, especially knitting for the needy. She also loved good music and sang in several choirs in her life. She loved watching sports on TV and especially enjoyed watching her great-grandchildren’s activities. Nancy was a member of Rainbow Girls in Monroe, Michigan, the University of Michigan Victors Club with Del, a Michigan Dame, and was an ardent University of Michigan fan her entire life. Go Blue!
Nancy married David C. Dieterich in 2000 and they resided in Surprise, Arizona until his death in 2016. She was a member of P.E.O in Surprise. Following David’s death Nancy moved to Walnut Ridge in Clive to be closer to her family.
Nancy is survived by four daughters, Barbara O’Brien (Tom) of Mt. Prospect, Illinois and their daughter, Rebecca (Paul), Gail Hartz (Rick) of Newton, Iowa and their sons, Ryan (Kristin) and Robert (Nikki), Carol Smith (Kim) of West Des Moines, Iowa and their children, Stephanie (Andy) and Austin (Michelle), Cindy Warta (Steve) of Overland Park, Kansas, and their children Cari (Derek) and Kyle (Ashley); and 15 great-grandchildren, Matthew, Tyler, Sophie, Paige, Henry, Elena, Mason, Riley, Kai, Grayson, Leela, Amelia, Rory, Delaney and Meryl. She is also survived by two step-sons, Douglas Dieterich (Tina) of Appleton, Wisconsin and their son, Michael (Brittany), David Dean Dieterich (Karen) of Scottsdale, Arizona and their children, Matthew and Kelsey; as well as two step great-grandchildren, Maxwell and Benjamin.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Walnut Ridge Employee Appreciation Fund or Hospice of the Midwest, 9249 Northpark Drive, Johnston, IA 50131.
