

Nancy Lynn Wallace, 69, passed away peacefully at home on August 8, 2024, surrounded by her two beloved sons. Nancy was known for her unwavering kindness, devotion to family, and active involvement in her church.
No services are planned at this time. Memorials may be made to Plymouth Congregational United Church of Christ of Des Moines.
Born on June 11, 1955, in Des Moines, IA, to John "Jock" Wallace and Wanda Dunagan. Nancy graduated from Des Moines' Theodore Roosevelt High School in 1973 before attending the University of Iowa. In May 1978, she married Larry George Wallace of Grimes, IA, with whom she shared her life until his passing in 1989.
Nancy had a distinguished career, working for Pioneer Hi-Bred and Bankers Trust before dedicating most of her professional life to Plymouth Congregational United Church of Christ. There, she served as the manager of mailing and printing services and took on various administrative roles, reflecting her commitment to her spiritual community.
Beyond her professional life, Nancy was actively involved in her spiritual home at Plymouth Church as a past member of the Matins Choir, former President of their Women’s Fellowship organization, and contributed to various church missions as a third-generation member. She was an active member of the DAR and an avid researcher of genealogy and family history. Her love for family was matched only by her passion for helping others, whether through her church involvement or the warmth she extended to everyone she met.
Nancy’s warm spirit and generous heart touched everyone she met. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend who always put the needs of others before her own. Nancy’s laughter, kindness, and unwavering support were constants in the lives of those who knew her. Her resilience and grace in the face of life’s challenges were truly inspiring.
Nancy is survived by her two children, Ross Wallace of Des Moines, IA, and Jeffrey Wallace (Paige Tucker) of Waukee, IA, who carry forward her legacy of love and compassion. She also leaves behind her brother Scott Wallace (Susan Russell) of Williamsburg, MA, sister-in-law Micki Wallace (Waalk), and two cherished granddaughters, Ivy and Daphne, along with her loyal dog, Kota. Her extended family across the country, along with countless friends, will miss her dearly.
She is preceded in death by her husband Larry Wallace (1989), her parents John Wallace (2017) and Wanda Wallace (2023), and her brother William R. Wallace (2023).
Nancy’s family and friends will forever hold her in their hearts, cherishing the love and light she brought into their lives.
