Paul Joseph Muñozwas born in Des Moines Iowa on June 27, 1952, in return to God on December 18, 2023, in Anchorage Alaska. A Mass will be held Friday, January 26, 2024, at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 1627 Grand Ave, West Des Moines, Iowa. Following services, burial will occur at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery at 2 p.m at the Van Meter, Iowa exit.
He is the son of Thomas Carl Muñoz and Genevieve Ortiz. Paul was a member of Sacred Heart Parish and received his education at Sacred Heart School in West Des Moines and was a high school graduate of Dowling. Paul was a member of the Armed Forces serving overseas in the Air Force. During his career, he was a private investigator in Anchorage developing his firm.
As a golden glove champion, boxing was his sport, hunting, fishing, and being an enthusiastic precinct leader for many elections. The love of Alaska enamored Paul to continue residence in Anchorage for many years. Of significance was the affection and love of his mother, Genevieve, whom he credits for her devotion and spirituality that touched, and remained with him throughout life.
He is survived by his daughter, Angela Peterson and two grandchildren of Boise, Idaho; siblings, Sister Irene Muñoz CHM, Sister Molly Muñoz CHM, Tomas Donaciano Muñoz, Virginia Muñoz, Linda Muñoz Ramirez, Tom Carl Muñoz Jr. Paul was preceded in death by his parents, and siblings, Trini Muñoz Velasquez and Victor Muñoz.
