Richard Lee Close, 56, passed away on Saturday, November 21, 2015 at Mercy Hospice in Johnston. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday at McLaren’s Chapel with burial at Resthaven Cemetery in West Des Moines.
Richard was born April 26, 1959 in Des Moines, IA to Jack and Sylvia (Pace) Close. He was a welder and inspector for Fawn Engineering (Wittern Group). Richard enjoyed fishing, maintaining his home and being there for his family.
Richard is survived by his wife, Lola Close of Des Moines; son, Jason Close of Des Moines; two daughters, Jennifer (David) Espeland of Des Moines and Angela (James) Oswald of West Des Moines; eight grandchildren, Jacob, Joshua, Kaylee, Jordan and Alexis; mother, Sylvia Close of West Des Moines; two brothers, Jack Close and Gary (Mindy) Close both of West Des Moines. He was preceded in death by his father, Jack Close; two sisters, Lynn Kritchard and Rhonda Pace; and brother, Timothy Ray Close.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at McLaren’s Chapel. Memorial contributions may be directed to Mercy Hospice in Johnston.
