Bob was born in Hawley, Minnesota on October 24, 1945. After high school he moved to Des Moines where a cousin of his had told him there were plenty of good jobs.
He had a long career as a Union Steward, machinist, and mechanic. Bob was an encyclopedia when it came to cars and mechanics. He knew every detail inside and out of most vehicles. He appreciated cars and loved restoring them and taking long drives around town. He loved the classics from his music, cars, motorcycles and his Levis 505’s. He loved good food, taking care of his yard, and sharing jokes and stories. He will be greatly missed.
Bob is survived by his daughter, Sharmein M. (Daniel) Carder; son, Gerard (Guadalupe) Berber; and grandsons who he was very proud of, Gerardo Berber Jr., Grant Carder and George Carder; along with step-grandsons, Gabe, Luis, and Felipe Saldana.
Those who will greet him in heaven are his wife, Otilia Chalfant, and sons Jose Luis and Manuel.
