Robert (Bob) Tackenberg, 88, passed away at his home on Sunday, February 1, 2015. A private family service will held at McLaren’s Chapel with entombment to follow in the garden mausoleum at Resthaven Cemetery.
Bob served overseas in the U.S. Army during World War II. After returning home, he attended and graduated from Iowa Wesleyan College in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa where he played football and was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha. He worked for the 3M Company for 33 years before retiring at age 69. Bob lived in Kansas City, Kansas for 47 years before moving back to Iowa in 2007.
He is survived by his wife, Sherry; son, Jim (Jonnie) Tackenberg of Tampa, Florida; daughter, Lisa (Greg) Slaymaker of Johnston, Iowa; and three grandsons, Brian and Jacob Tackenberg, and Christopher Slaymaker.
