Ron Fulton

Ron Fulton, 64, of Waukee passed away unexpectedly on March 18, 2026 at Methodist Hospital in Des Moines. A celebration of life visitation will be held from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. Sunday, March 29, 2026 at McLaren’s Resthaven Chapel in West Des Moines.

Ron was born in Eldora on December 14, 1961 to Marge and Richard Fulton. He grew up in Whitten and graduated from Union-Whitten, class of 1980. Ron was involved in multiple sports through school and after school he spent time farming for local farmers. After high school, Ron was a volunteer firefighter for the Eldora Fire Department.

Ron married Brenda Herndon in 1982. Through their marriage daughter, Rachel and son, Reid were born.

Ron started his working career at Napa in Eldora, then in 1993 Ron moved to Des Moines and worked at Computer Supply Store, then Crescent Electric, and found his passion and started at Anixter Westco, where he spent 22 years and planned on retiring from there in June 2026.

In the early 2000’s Ron found his Harley Davidson passion. He had multiple bikes and enjoyed various bike nights around Des Moines. Ron had a great group of friends that he enjoyed riding motorcycles with. One of the most popular bike nights was at Porky’s. This is where he met his wife, Dori. Ron and Dori were married on August 9, 2006. In this union in marriage Ron gained another daughter, Sierra.

Ron and Dori had many hobbies they enjoyed together from motorcycle rides, to trips to new places with their great group of friends, to bike rides and trips in the side-by-side and the Jeep.

While Ron had many hobbies, nothing meant more than time with his family. He was very involved with all aspects of family life. From watching new grandchildren be born, to watching all the sports the grandchildren were in. Ron was extremely excited to watch his oldest grandson, Reece, graduate this spring and watch his daughter, Sierra and Nick get married this fall. Another extremely special time to Ron were the mini trips to Okoboji each summer with all the kids and grandkids.

Those left to cherish his memories are his wife, Dori; daughter, Rachel Fulton (Kent Follett) of Union; son, Reid (Brooke) Fulton of Eldora; and daughter, Sierra Perkins (Nick Meirick) of Des Moines; granddaughters, Layla Follett and Rylee Fulton; grandsons, Reece, Bodee and Burklee Fulton; fur children, Rosie and Shaker; sisters, Sonya (Mike) Moore of Conrad and Peg (Barry) Clemens of Union; brother, Steve Fulton (Susan Olson) of Whitten; and sister-in-law, Connie Fulton of Waukee.

Ron was preceded in death by his brother, Dennis; parents; uncle, Lyle Birkhofer; maternal and paternal grandparents; and fur children, Dugan, Pandora and Maggie.

Memorials can be directed to the family for a future designation.
