

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 9, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at McLarens Funeral Chapel, 801-19th Street, West Des Moines with burial to follow at Resthaven Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. on Monday at McLarens Funeral Chapel.
Steve was born on October 23, 1948 to Eugene and Shirley (Graham) Lackershire. He attended school in Des Moines graduating from North High School in 1966. Upon graduation, Steve went to Grandview College until he enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1967. He spent one year in Thailand serving his country during the Vietnam War.
Steve married Kim McQuiston on December 13, 1969. They resided in Des Moines for several years before moving to the Minburn/Perry area, and then most recently back to Des Moines.
Over the years Steve was employed by Safeway, Pizza Hut, Breadeaux Pizza, and Hy-Vee where he retired from in March 2014.
Steve loved spending time with his grandchildren, especially attending all their sporting activities. He was an avid Kansas City Chiefs and Chicago Cubs fan. He also enjoyed camping, bowling, and playing horseshoes.
Steve is survived by his wife, Kim of Des Moines; his three children, Lisa (Randy) Bennett of Cedar Falls; Gene (Jen) Lackershire of Portland, OR; and Molly (Terry) Robertson of Elk Horn; a sister, JoAnn (Bill) Becker of Bossier City, LA; two brothers, Mike (Donna) Lackershire of Springfield, MO, and Donnie Lackershire of Ventura, CA; along with five grandchildren and four step-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.
