Tamela Jo McGrew, 51, passed away March 25, 2019 at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines. She was born July 25, 1967 in Des Moines to Donald and Norma (Friedrichsen) McGrew. Sadly Tami lost her dad in an accident at 9 months old and never really knew what an awesome guy he was. She graduated from Valley High School and grew up in West Des Moines with her mom, older sister, Vicky (Gary) Barr-Formaro, and brother, Mark (Cindy) McGrew. Tami was diagnosed with Guillain Barre Syndrome 7 years ago and never fully recovered. She unhappily lived at Panora Care Center and was confined to a wheelchair. Tami’s mom instilled a great love of animals in her children. Perhaps this love was strongest in Tami. She cherished all of God's creatures. Tami mourned the loss of her beloved cat, Weezie and kept her remains close always.
Tami greatly missed her dear friend and longtime companion, Jeff Rasmussen who sadly recently preceded her in death. She was never able to let him go and kept him in her heart always.
She will be greatly missed and always mourned by her small family. She always was and always will be mom’s baby. Rest in peace, if anyone deserves peace, it is you.
