

Verna McManus, 92, died June 8, 2022 at EveryStep Kavanagh House in Des Moines, Iowa. Services will be 10 a.m., Tuesday, June 14 at McLaren's Resthaven Funeral Chapel with visitation one hour prior. A private family entombment in Resthaven Mausoleum will follow.
Mrs. McManus was born in Packwood, Iowa, December 6, 1929. She retired from the College of Education at Drake University in 1984. Verna was a 50+-year member of P.E.O. Chapter LS, in the first group of Hospice of Central Iowa volunteers in 1978, a longtime volunteer for Blank Hospital Guild, appointed to the first Iowa Foster Care Review Board by Iowa Governor Bob Ray, and a member of West Des Moines Christian Church for many years.
Mrs. McManus is survived by sons Mark (Pam) and Brent (Dian) both of West Des Moines, four grandchildren, Justin McManus (Maddie Koppin), Kelsey Ermels (Brian Baltutat), Nathan McManus (Emily), and Danielle McManus (Konni), great-granddaughters Olivia Ermels, Avery Ermels, and Claire McManus, and sisters, Mary Smith and Charlotte England. She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, William (Bill), sister Lois Marsh, and her parents. Memorials may be made to the P.E.O.
