

Barbara was born in Cambridge, MA, and was raised and educated in Beverly, MA. She was a member of the First Baptist Church and was a graduate of Beverly High School, class of 1947, and the Beverly School of Nursing, class of 1950. After receiving her RN, she worked at the delivery room at Beverly Hospital, later retiring as a nursing supervisor at Liberty Pavilion in Danvers, MA. While raising her children she was active in the North Beverly Congregational Church as a Sunday School teacher and Deaconess. She was also active in the Cub Scouts as a den mother, the Girl Scouts as a leader, and was a PTA class mother. After Barbara moved to Cape Cod, she participated in many activities at the Northside Methodist Church in Brewster. Later she spent her winters in Harbor Isles, North Port, FL and continued to be active in the community activities and the Englewood Methodist Church.
Barbara enjoyed traveling, visiting South Africa, England, France, Israel, Egypt, the Caribbean as well as all 50 states. She was also an avid writer and poet, publishing her collection of favorites as well as a book of life memories. Music was also important to her, and she was accomplished in many forms of needlework.
Family was the most important part of Barbara’s life, and all will fondly remember her hospitality. She is survived by her beloved husband of 63 years, Donald C. McCormack, as well as her devoted children D. Bradford McCormack and his wife Judith of Beverly, MA and Debra McCormack Smith and her husband Courtland of Brewster, MA. She was the sister of the late Peter Wood and Judith Morse and sister-in-law to the late Roland McCormack. She will be truly missed by her grandchildren, Stacy Alexander and husband Scott, Jennifer Prentiss and her husband Todd, and Katie McCormack, along with her cherished great-grandchildren, Kelly Alexander, Declan Alexander, Kyla Alexander, Tyler Prentiss, Jacob Prentiss, Ethan Prentiss, Austin Prentiss, Ryan Fletcher, and Ella Fletcher and her loving nieces and nephews, Charles, Richard, Carl, Cynthia, Donna, Mark, David, and Stephen. She will also be missed greatly by her sisters-in-law Miriam D. Bauer and her husband Robert, Florence E. Peart and Louise (Chickee) McCormack.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Northside Methodist Church, 701 Airline Rd., Brewster, MA on Friday November 7 at 11:00 AM. A burial service will be held at Central Cemetery, on the hill, in Beverly, MA on Saturday, November 8 at 10:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations in Barbara’s memory may be made to Northside Methodist Church, Brewster, MA.
