

Janica Walker McDonough, 80, died at home after a lengthy illness on January 25, 2013, surrounded by her family. Jan was born in New York City and grew up in Scarsdale N.Y. She spent her childhood summers on the Cape and was a full-time resident of Harwich for over 30 years.
She graduated from Colby-Sawyer College. Her first career led her to become the Director of the Ridgefield Ct. Cooperative Pre-Schoo,l and for the last 30 years as a real estate agent in Harwich. She was married twice during the course of her life, first to Rodger Stettaford Sr. and later to Martin McDonough.
Jan was dedicated to her family and many friends, and was a tireless and selfless community activist and volunteer. She spent many years on the boards of the Harwichport Library Association, the Harwich Ecumenical Council for Housing, the Harwich Children’s Center, and was a volunteer at the Family Food Pantry. She loved the town of Harwich and her many friends there.
She was an animal lover, and was dedicated to all of the dogs she shared her life with over the years. .
Jan was preceded in death by her parents Jean and Stoughton Walker, as well as her sister Linda Walker Broderick. She is survived by three children; Rodger and Scott Stettaford and Meg McDonough-Ceratti. She also leaves first cousins; Mary Jane White-Puckett and Peter White.
A celebration of life service will be held at the Pilgrim Congregational Church in Harwichport on Wednesday January 30, 2013 at 12:00 PM.
Donations in her memory in lieu of flowers may be made to the Harwichport Libarary Association (P.O. Box 175, Harwichport MA 02645), the Family Food Pantry (133 Queen Anne Road, Harwich MA 02645), or The Children’s Center of Harwich ( 115 Sisson Road, Harwichport MA 02645).
