Caroline, 99, passed away at her home on January 1, 2013. She was born on October 9, 1913 in Yugoslavia and immigrated, with her family, to Piqua, Ohio in the early 1920s. She moved to West Palm Beach in 1935. She was Belvedere School cafeteria manager from 1953-1968. She served two terms as President of PB County Cafeteria Managers and was well known for her ?Sloppy Joe? sandwiches. During the summers she was a Park Director at Currie Park and Northmore School. She worked in many capacities for Lewis Vaughn in his orchid business from 1968 until her retirement in 1988. Caroline loved what she did at Belvedere School, and the many different things she was responsible for while working with the Vaughn?s. She was involved in all aspects of orchid germination and growth, and traveling the world with Lewis Vaughn and his wife, Varina, while he was President of the American Orchid Society. Caroline was a caregiver for both Mr. And Mrs. Vaughn until they passed away. Caroline was preceded in death by her husband, Verner (Speck) Browning, in 1952 and all her siblings; but still had relatives from her siblings on the Zabovnik side of the family at the time of her death. Caroline is survived by her twin sons, Jimmy W. Browning of West Palm Beach and Jerry H. Browning (Jeanne Faville Reid) of Vero Beach. Grandchildren Neill (Melanie), great-grandchildren Cameron & Caroline, Charleston, SC; Bethany, Windsor, CA; and Jerry?s stepchildren Lois Reid Clemente (Raphael), children, Kaia & Rell, West Palm Beach, and Philip Reid, children, Philip, Gabrielle & Owen, Atlanta GA. Graveside service will be held on January 10, 2013 at Hillcrest Cemetery at 10:30 a.m. Reception will follow immediately after the service at Mizell-Faville-Zern Funeral Home, 6411 Parker Avenue, West Palm Beach, FL 33405, which adjoins the cemetery.
