Claire Johnson was born on April 10, 1947, at Margaret Hague Hospital in Jersey City, New Jersey. A proud graduate of Hoboken High School, she later attended Catherine Gibbs Secretarial School in Manhattan and began her career as a secretary at Solomon Brothers. Many evenings were spent helping at her parents’ restaurant, Leo’s Grandevous, in Hoboken.
Claire later moved to Florida with her husband, Lubin “Benny,” where she worked as a private secretary for a prominent family in Palm Beach.
She was a devoted mother to Leah (Tommy) and loving stepmother to Liza (Trevor). She was a proud grandmother to Benjamin and Blair, and step-grandmother to Michael and Matthew.
Claire loved playing tennis, riding her bike, dancing, and enjoying water aerobics. She was preceded in death by her parents, Leo and Tessie DiTerlizzi; her sister, Martha DePalma; and her brothers, Marino and Nazio.
She leaves behind her brother-in-law, Iggy DePalma; her nieces Grace (John), Vanessa (Casey), Natalie, and Stephanie; her nephew Nicholas (Larisa); her great nieces Theresa (Matt), Izzy Maria Tessie and great nephew John (Alyssa) and many cousins and friends who will miss her dearly.
