Hans W Topfer

age 99, of West Palm Beach, Florida passed away on December 31, 2013 at Good Samaritan Medical Center where he received excellent care of which his family is deeply appreciative. Hans was born in Dresden, Germany on February 19, 1914. He came to America at the age of 12 with his mother, Helen Jaehnigen to join his step-father. He was a veteran and proudly served in the United States armed forces. Hans and his wife Madge were in the restaurant business in Atlanta, Georgia for a number of years. They moved to West Palm Beach in 1953 where they operated Topfer's Pit Bar-B-Que for many years before retiring. He was preceded in death by his wife and mother. He is survived by a special niece and her husband, Nancy and Horace Parker of Blairsville, GA; other nieces and nephews; two wonderful neighbor families, Scott and Mary Jo Gay and Bob and Bonnie Pauley. Hans was of the Methodist faith and attended Wagg Memorial United Methodist Church. The family will receive their friends from 1 PM until 2 PM on Sunday, January 5th at the funeral home with his funeral service to follow at 2 PM. Mr. Topfer will be laid to rest following his funeral service at Hillcrest Memorial Park. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Quattlebaum Funeral, Cremation and Event Center at Hillcrest Memorial Park, 6411 Parker Ave, West Palm Beach, FL 33405.
