John Capaldo, was born in 1920 in Camden, New Jersey, the son of Gerard and Louise Capaldo. He was raised in Collingswood, NJ, along with his sister, Geraldine, where they enjoyed a happy childhood with many relatives living nearby.
John married Maude Perono in 1948 when he returned from the Navy. They then made one of the best decisions of their lives when John and Maude built their home on Paseo Andalusia in West Palm Beach across the street from Vedado Park. It was a wonderful neighborhood where the kids could always be found at the park. Life-long friendships were developed with many of the families around Vedado Park. John loved the neighborhood cookouts, fish fries, camping trips, and Bar Harbor and Smokey Mountain vacations. And John loved the water. He enjoyed taking his family and neighborhood kids to the beach and teaching them to waterski on Lake Worth.
In 1961, John and Maude opened Capaldo Metals, with John being the artist and the craftsman with his beautiful ornamental ironwork and Maude handling the bookwork. They ran this successful business until John retired and he and Maude moved to Port Salerno. They made many new friends there and were able to continue their world travels.
John understood the importance of family time. Picnics at DuBois Park with the grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins were a monthly occurrence. Family vacations each summer were a priority with John and Maude, even taking the children to France to introduce them to their roots.
In his later years, John happily watched his children marry and have their own children. Nothing gave him more pleasure than having his whole family together and being there as the grandchildren and great-grandchildren came along. The loss of his son, Rick affected him greatly and we are comforted to know he is now with Maude and Rick in heaven.
And in the sunset of his life, John was cared for by compassionate caregivers that loved him and his sarcastic sense of humor.
John is predeceased by his wife Maude and his son, Rick Capaldo and is survived by Mona Taylor (Jeff), Sue Malaney (Mike), Suzanne Capaldo
(Rick), grandchildren Meghan Henehan (Gabe), Katie Arrizza (Evan), Greg Taylor (Leandra), Cori Taylor Ungaro (Matt), Breanne and Christine Malaney, great grandchildren, Finnegan and Ansley Henehan and Cecilia and Cole Arrizza.
