

Jose Luis (Tutu) Ojea passed away unexpectedly on February 2, 2013. Tutu was born in Santiago, Cuba on April 18, 1930. He attended the Universidad de Oriente where he earned his bachelor’s degree in Accounting and became a certified Public Accountant for the Public Works Department. On December 22, 1957 he married the love of his life, Ena DeGranda, and while in Cuba they had three boys. In 1964, the family fled communist Cuba initially settling in Pahokee, Florida where he worked as a mechanic. While in Pahokee a fourth son was born. The family relocated to West Palm Beach where he earned his license as a General Contractor and began his career in the construction industry. He ran Ojea Construction building residential and commercial properties throughout Palm Beach, Martin and Broward counties. He had escaped Cuba penniless and rebuilt his life in America in support of his friends, family and charities in need. He was preceded in passing by his lovely wife Ena who’s love sustained him and inspired everyone as a beautiful testimony to steadfast devotion and faith. Even from his wheelchair he had made every day and everyone count. He is survived by his sons, Dr. Jose F. (Nancy), George (Liz), Peter (Angie) and Tony (Michelle). He leaves behind countless friends and family and especially, the real treasures of his life, his grandchildren: Erin, Joseph, Lily, Shannon, Kevin, Emily, Cody, Madelyn and Sam and his great-granddaughters Isabel and Evelyn. Family and friends may visit and pay respects on Sunday, February 10, 2013 from 6PM -10PM at Mizell-Faville-Zern Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 6411 Parker Avenue, West Palm Beach, FL 33405, (561) 833-4061. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 10AM, Monday, February 11, 2013 in the Chapel of Mizell-Faville-Zern Funeral Home with Father Louis Guerin of St. Vincent DePaul the celebrant. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park, 6411 Parker Avenue, West Palm Beach, FL 33405, (561) 582-4131.
