Kellie was born into a military family at Fort Knox, KY to Agnes (Simpson) and George H. Allison on December 17, 1964. She attended multiple schools growing up and had fond memories of attending grade school in Belgium. The family returned to Kentucky where she graduated from Burgin High School. She continued her education at West Texas State University earning a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Physics before starting her US Army career. Kellie was commissioned as a Corps of Engineers officer and spent 11 years as a combat engineer where she led river crossings and managed tent city projects for Hurricane Andrew survivors. The Army sent her to Georgia Institute of Technology to continue her education. Upon earning her Master of Science in Applied Mathematics, she taught mathematics courses to US Military Academy cadets at West Point. She rounded out her military career as an operations research systems analyst at the Center for Army Analysis.
Kellie continued her love of numbers and analysis by mentoring on best management practices with the US Air Force. She later advised small local businesses. Friends and family looked to Kellie for advice – a thoughtful ear and perspective.
Throughout her life, Kellie loved nature and all the creatures – from the butterfly, big horn sheep, nurse shark, manatee, turtle, bear, to her kitties – she loved them all. That love was shared with her circle of friends who shared hikes, rides, walks, and kayak adventures with her. She would research the National Park of choice and line up the trip for the biggest memories. She wanted everything to be perfect and they were. She cherished those trips, the sites, the friends, and the accomplishments. Smile and breathe it in!
Kellie is survived by her siblings Michael “Mike”, Valerie Herbaut, Tamara “Tammy” Shaw, and John (Beverly), nieces and nephews, and a close circle of friends and traveling companions: Amy Swiecichowski, Joyce Lynch, JoAnne Walser, Patricia Teare, and David Hubert.
Kellie was preceded in death by her mother and father, in-laws Eric Herbaut and William Shaw, and nieces Natasha and Cheri.
A celebration of life will take place at Quattlebaum Funeral Home, 6411 Parker Ave, West Palm Beach, on Tuesday, February 18, 2025 from 4-8pm.
