It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Lola B. Harrison, who departed this life on March 29, 2025 in West Palm Beach, Fl. Born on May 2, 1951, in Tifton, Georgia, she was 73 years old.
A bright and diligent student, Lola graduated as valedictorian from Monroe High School in 1968. Her striking beauty led to modeling offers, which she graciously declined, choosing instead a life of purpose, depth, and service.
Raised in the Baptist faith, she later embraced Seventh-day Adventism—a spiritual journey that led her to Oakwood College in 1972. There, she met Calvin U. Harrison (Cal), whose charm, wit, and determination won her heart. They married in 1977, beginning a lifelong partnership built on love, respect, and shared faith.
Education was a pillar of her life. She earned an Associate Degree in Nursing from Oakwood College in 1975, a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration/Accounting in 1976, and a Master of Business Administration in Finance and Hospital Administration from Adelphi University in 1990. She continued to pursue excellence with a BSN from Molloy College in 1993, a Certificate in Nurse Midwifery from SUNY in 1994, and an MSN in Nurse Midwifery from SUNY at Stony Brook in 1996.
Professionally, Lola was a force—serving over 15 years as Treasurer for the Northeastern Conference of Seventh-day Adventists and distinguishing herself as a nurse, midwife, and healthcare leader. She brought innovation, compassion, and excellence to everything she touched.
She had a deep and abiding love for music. She sang solos with heartfelt conviction and taught herself to play both the piano and the guitar. No matter where she and Cal were assigned, she offered her musical gifts to each church community—accompanying services, inspiring worship, and lifting spirits through song. She also wrote original plays, led Adventist Youth (AY) programs, and created and led church services and community programs with passion and vision. Her creativity and commitment were unmatched—she truly integrated herself in everything she did, always going above and beyond.
Though she had long dreamed of becoming a missionary, she lived that mission daily—feeding the homeless, comforting her coworkers, offering a listening ear, and being present for those in need. She brought her angelic spirit into every space she entered and embodied the love of Christ through both word and action.
She was kind, loving, and adored by all who knew her. A natural leader and matriarch, she guided her family and friends with grace and wisdom. She was comical and witty, always ready with a sharp joke or hearty laugh—even at her own expense. Her humor was a light to many.
She was an influential voice, a memorable soul, a model of graciousness, and a quiet innovator—always finding ways to do things better, love deeper, and live with intention.
She leaves to mourn her devoted husband, Calvin “Cal” Harrison; her two loving daughters, Tasheima (Krissy, Kris) and Shanna (Shan); and her cherished grandchildren: Brian Jr. (BB), Kylah (Ky Ky), Taylor (Tay), and Nuri (Nu). She is also survived by a host of beloved nieces, nephews, sisters- and brothers-in-love, and countless friends who became family.
Lola’s legacy is one of faith, intelligence, grace, joy, and devotion. She was the heart of her family, the light in every room, and the song in so many hearts.
