

Orville Uriah Smith (affectionately known as “Bro Smith”) was born on October 20, 1931, in Prospect, St. Elizabeth, Jamaica and was called home to be with the Lord on December 22, 2024, in Martinsburg, WV.
Bro. Smith’s journey through life was marked by his unwavering devotion to his family, church, work, and community. He selflessly helped others during their times of need, exemplifying his belief in the importance of serving his community. For many years, Bro. Smith worked in the construction field, skilled in carpentry, masonry, plumbing and electrical. He was known for his meticulous attention to detail when designing, building, and remodeling beautiful homes, businesses, churches, commercial buildings, and sea-stone privacy walls from the ground up. He was also known for his talent as an accomplished musician, particularly as a lead guitarist. Music became his second language, his comfort, and a means of connecting with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. His musical talent was remarkable and became his enduring legacy. He will be deeply missed for his love and commitment to his family, as well as his passion for agriculture and raising farm animals.
Bro. Smith was a devoted son, caring brother, loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend whose radiant smile and positive energy left a lasting impact on everyone he met. He leaves behind a legacy of love, commitment, and service that will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Bro. Smith is survived by his wife, Desseen Smith; one daughter, Sharon Smith; three sons, Christopher Smith, Bishop Peter Smith, and Sergeant Terrance Smith; one sister, Hermine Watson; one brother, Locksley Smith; and five grandchildren: Joanna Jones, Christopher Smith Jr., Breanna Smith, Christian Smith and Sky Smith. He is also survived by nieces and nephews: Joy Smith, Patrick Smith, Howard Smith, Grace Smith, Tyrone Smith, Rosemarie Watson-Wright, Paulette Thompson-Dewanyi, Ruth Gittens, John Thompson Jr., and Rose Thompson; and a host of grandnieces and grandnephews, cousins, and extended family and friends.
Bro. Smith’s viewing will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2025, from 10:00am to 11:00am at Central New Testament Church of God, 1111 Fairfield Dr., West Palm Beach, FL 33407. A funeral service will take place immediately following the viewing at 11am and a committal service to follow at Royal Palm Memorial Gardens, 5601 Greenwood Ave., West Palm Beach, FL 33407.
