Otto P. Newhart

Otto Newhart, 81, of Dunnellon, FL, went to be with the Lord on Monday, January 11, 2016. Otto was born May 14, 1934 in Terre Haute, IN to George and Lucille Newhart. He moved to Florida in 1944 where he spent most of his life in the West Palm Beach area and then in Dunnellon. Otto graduated from Palm Beach High School in 1951 and went on to serve in the United States Navy from 1952 to 1956 aboard the USS Dixie and the USS Gurke. In 1958, he started working at General Plumbing, Inc. and later became the sole owner of the company until his retirement in 1997. Otto is survived by his wife of 30 years, Shirley Rowlett. Shirley and Otto married in West Palm Beach on June 22, 1985. Otto and Shirley were members of the Episcopal Church of the Advent in Dunnellon and also spent many years as members of the Holy Spirit Episcopal Church in West Palm Beach. Otto is also survived by his five daughters, Lucille Shelling (Dennis-husband) of Palm Beach Gardens, FL, Kimberly LaMendola of Lake Worth, FL, Marlayna Koemm of West Palm Beach, FL, Kathy Duff of Palm Springs, FL, Karen Newhart of Manchester, TN. Otto is the proud Grandpa of 16 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren. Also survived by sister-in-law, Patricia Newhart of West Palm Beach, FL, sister-in-law, Sharon Prevatt (Wayne-husband) of Okeechobee, FL, brother-in-law, Danny Rowlett of Ocala, FL, loving friends, Charlie and Pat Bigbie of Keystone Heights, FL, Jud and Joyce Moote of The Villages, FL, and Norman and Polly Fulton of Dunnellon, FL. Preceded in death by his parents, George and Lucille Newhart, his brother, Robert "Bob" L. Newhart, his daughter, Melinda Lee and his son, Otto Phillip Newhart IV. Visitation will be held on Friday, January 15th from 4:00PM to 8:00PM at the Quattlebaum Funeral Home, 6411 Parker Avenue, West Palm Beach, FL 33405. A Funeral Service will be held Saturday, January 16th at 2:00PM at Quattlebaum Funeral Home with Interment to follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park, West Palm Beach.
