Ruth dedicated her career to Barnett Bank (Originally First Marine Bank), where she worked diligently as a Bank Officer until her retirement in 1985. After retiring, she spent her summers with her beloved husband in Southern Ohio, tending to their garden and enjoying the simple joys of nature and family. Later, the two of them volunteered at Lighthouse Baptist Church cooking Wednesday night supper for the congregation.
Ruth was born into a large, close-knit family of 6 brothers and 3 sisters. She was predeceased by her parents and her siblings: brothers Granville, Glenn, Clifford, Fayne, Jack, and Paul, and sisters Myrl Owens and Nell Payne. She is survived by her sister Helen Harden, who resides in Berea, KY.

She was a proud grandmother to Christopher Hawkins, Andrew Hawkins, and Kathryn Tromblay. Her legacy continues with her cherished great-grandchildren: Lily, Luna, Nova, Serena, Claire, Charles, and Nathan.
