

Sharon Knoch Bouyoucas (Simkaitis) of Palm Springs, FL passed away at the age of 74 on January 28, 2019 after a brief illness. She was born on May 18, 1944 in Akron, Ohio to Henry and Barbara Knoch. Sharon graduated from Kent State in 1966 and moved to Florida. She started her career teaching in Brandon and then moved to West Palm Beach, teaching a total of 35 years. During this time, she earned her Master's Degree from Florida Atlantic University. Most of her years teaching were in Palm Beach County, primarily at Southboro Elementary School and Roosevelt Elementary School.
Sharon raised her two children with her first husband, Helmut Simkaitis. She was a very active charter member of St. Peter's United Methodist Church in Wellington, FL and most recently, she worshipped at Lakeside Methodist Church in Lake Worth, FL. After she retired, she spent her years traveling the world with her second husband, Ernest Bouyoucas, and her close friends. Sharon enjoyed traveling domestically and internationally, both on land and sea, as she was an avid cruiser. She loved working for the Preservation Foundation of Palm Beach for fourth grade field trips, taking the part of Miss Hattie Gale, the original teacher of the Little Red School House. Sharon also spent a great deal of her time volunteering with several organizations but her heart was at her church. Sharon was very spiritual, kind, and strong. She enjoyed reading, taking care of her cats and dog, singing, and spending time with family and friends.
Sharon is survived by her children, Amy (Steve) Noble and Alan (Jaqueline) Simkaitis; her step-children, Nicholas (Demetra) Bouyoucas and Gregory (Jan) Bouyoucas ; and her 7 grandchildren. She is also survived by several extended family members and close friends. Sharon was predeceased by her husband Ernest, her parents Henry and Barbara, and her brother Henry James Knoch.
A Memorial Service, followed by a reception, will be held at 2pm on Saturday, February 16, 2019 at Lakeside United Methodist Church, 1901 12th Avenue S. ,Lake Worth, FL 33461. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Lakeside United Methodist Church.
