Sheila Annette Jones Robusky, age 76, passed away peacefully on January 1, 2024, at her home in Stuart, Florida after a lengthy illness.
Sheila was born on November 6, 1947, to the late Ivory and Margaret Levarity Jones in West Palm Beach, Florida. She was a proud native of the Palm Beaches having spent most of her life in Riviera Beach, with a brief period in Fulton County, Georgia, until finally relocating to Stuart, Florida. As a young African American she attended predominately black secondary schools, graduating from John F. Kennedy High School in 1965, home of the Mighty Vikings. After graduating from JFK, she attended Palm Beach Junior College.
Sheila broke the color barriers at Southern Bell when she became their first African American Customer Service Representative in the Palm Beaches. Sheila again transcended color barriers when she was hired as the manager responsible for troubleshooting and resolving operational issues for Cataract Banks. Using her knowledge, skills, and abilities from Corporate America, Sheila was hired by the Palm Beach County Health Department as Director of Training. Later, she was promoted to Strategic Planning Coordinator for Martin County Health Department until her retirement.
Sheila, fondly called Robusky, enjoyed reading, cooking, gardening, watching sports (especially her favorite teams the Alabama Crimson Tide, Miami Dolphins, and the Heat), organizing and participating in social events with her friends and classmates, as well as researching ancestry.
Sheila was predeceased by her beloved parents Ivory/Margaret Jones, her brothers Laurence “Dobie” Jones and Tommie Wilson. She leaves in mourning her siblings, Sandra J. Wilson (Boca Raton), Gloria D. Roundtree (Riviera Beach), Janice J. Brown (West Palm Beach), Dr. Karen E. McCray (Baltimore, Md), Stephan L.
