

Terry graduated from Crystal Lake High School, in Crystal Lake, Illinois and was a valuable football player as offense of tackle. Terry enlisted in the Navy from October 1958 to June 1962 and also played on the Navy Football Team, while receiving his military training in Aviation Fundamentals and Aviation Electronics. After fulfilling four years of active duty, Terry’s love for his country he enlisted in the Navy Reserves October 1977 until May 1998. He flew over 5000 hours during his Navy career. Terry served 38 years, earned numerous awards and retired as a declared Petty Officer 1st Class. Terry was a natural salesman throughout his life and worked as a representative for Russell Newman, where he met his wife Michele at the Chicago Merchandise Mart. He married Michele Helen Barczuk on December 25, 1991, in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.
Terry loved his family and took great pride in attending his grandchildren’s sports activities and summer bible school studies. Terry would lend a helping hand to anyone in need, and he always did it with a smile and once saved someone’s life.His volunteer work led to many decades-long-term friendships, which Terry treasured. A generous and thoughtful man. Terry took pride in giving back to the community he was involved in the Navy’s nonprofit organization with the Navy Sea Cadets. He has given many young men and women a head start on life by giving them skills, knowledge and confidence. Terry taught the cadets to think on their feet, work as a team, and to live a life dedicated to cultivating values of honor, respect, commitment, and service. Terry was the CEO Commanding Officer with the Sea Cadets Organization. He dedicated 5 years with hundreds of volunteer hours of his time.
Terry enjoyed Golfing and spent time as a Marshall at the PGA Honda Classic Golf Tournament for 12 years. Terry was a member and participated with the church choir at Oceanview United Methodist Church located in Juno Beach. He volunteered his time singing for patients at memory care and assisting living centers.
He leaves to cherish memories; his spouse Michele Krchov, stepdaughter Pascale Taradoux, Stepson Alain Smith, his grandchildren Mitchell Shafer and granddaughter Madelyn Purnell and Kylo Crew Purnell soon to be born great-grandson. Terry leaves a host of treasured friends and young sea cadets he mentored.
He meets at the gates of heaven: his Parents and ancestors.

A viewing will be held on Thursday, May 22, 2025, at 10:00 am at Royal Palm Memorial Gardens, 5601 Greenwood Avenue, West Palm Beach, FL . A Service at 11:00am. A burial to occur at South Florida National Cemetery at 1:00PM , 6501 FL-7 Wellington, FL 33449 -With Military Honors Ceremony.
