I still think of you a lot.  When we worked together at the college, you made every single student feel so special and they were so grateful with the way you helped them.  I would love for you to be here amongst us, but God had a different idea regarding your life.  You were a great example of what a great human being should be.  You have a beautiful family.  They were your number one and always will be.

So sorry to hear of Bill's passing. Haven't seen him since high school but to this day, I remember our funny conversations on the bus to XC meets, and laugh about how he described himself as "the human L." He was a genuinely sweet, caring, hilarious person, and the world is less without him.  

Bill you will me missed for sure!!! The best teacher and coworker always with a smile and kindness big heart !!!

There are no words that can express my deepest regrets over the loss of your husband. I pray his memory will bring you peace and comfort over the coming months.

Bill, I will miss you dearly. The quantity of inside jokes and movie quotes over the years can fill a volume of encyclopedias. I dug out and posted some old photos here, I hope you are smiling like I am as I rifled through my dusty photo albums. 
I will leave with the quote you left in my yearbook...."The bus is getting bumpy so I better hang up now"....

To the Ashmen Family,
I have been struggling with what to write all week. I still have a hard time thinking that Bill is gone. Bill and our son, Ian, were good friends growing up in Flemington.  Bill spent many hours at our house-he and Ian were always up to something. When Bill decided to attend Rutgers, the family "discussion" was around whether Bill would be included in our will since neither of our children were going to Art's alma mater! I can still see Bill sitting at our dinner table many evenings-joking and quoting movie lines along with Ian.  I am sure that our memories of Bill will keep him alive in all of our hearts. 


Bill, you will be greatly missed. I just want to thank you for everything you taught me. I’ll never forget our time at Bethesda. Your work and legacy lives on in each and every student you have guided through radiology. Till we meet again.

The Class of 2021 would like to extend our sincerest condolences to the Ashmen family. Bill dedicated his life to teaching and shaping the lives of his students. We are overwhelmed by the news of his passing. We are forever grateful for everything he has ever done for us. Rest in peace Bill.

Such a ray of light ! Bill was nothing but kind and helpful to everyone he crossed paths with. I am glad he got to be a part of my journey. You will be missed and always remembered for the amazing person you were.

I will always cherish the amazing times we had working together at Bethesda! I STILL laugh to this day at so many things Bill said and did! (Yes! Squeezing into the cabinet in room 7!) Bill always knew how to fix everything, whether it was an x-ray machine, computer, or getting the perfect picture on a hard patient. His love for Hilary Jimmy and Elizabeth was very apparent. He was a very genuine, caring and giving guy and I am blessed to have gotten to know him. I will miss him greatly. 

Bill sent this message to me before graduation in 2019. I'm sharing this because it shows the true Bill. He was full of jokes, but he also knew how to make people feel special. When I was busy doubting myself, he was there rooting for me. I'm going to miss him dearly. 

There was truly no one like Bill. He was an amazing teacher and mentor, but also my friend. He always knew how to make the whole room laugh, but he was there for the serious conversations too. Really - he was there whenever you needed him. He was one of the most genuine people I have ever met and I'm just so grateful I got to know him. He will be so missed. 

I am so sorry to hear about Bill's passing. He was a wonderful human being. He taught me so much in xray and it was a privilege to work along side him. I will be praying for his family during this difficult time. Until we meet again, Bill, rest in peace. - Jennifer Hawks 

Billy, you do not know how much you were loved! You were not only a coworker, but a true friend. You were always full of jokes and I loved our pranks, even if it got us in trouble (no one else will fit into the cabinet in room 7). You were always the funny guy and could put a smile on anyone’s face. Your passion for teaching and your impressive knowledge made you an amazing teacher, I will always continue to teach the kids the Clements-Nakayama and think of you! I will miss sharing stories about our families, talking about football and rooting for your Bengals when they made it to the playoffs and Super Bowl. Celebrating my birthday will never be the same without you, my birthday buddy. I always enjoyed making you cupcakes!The love you had for Hillary, Jimmy and Elizabeth was immeasurable, they were your world. You will be missed my friend, until we meet again ❤️

Dear Hilary and family,

I was sorry to hear about Bill's passing away. I know he had been fighting hard for a few months, but our whole family was hoping he’d pull through. 

Bill’s sense of humor, generosity, and always positive attitude was a blessing to us all. I have so many fond memories of him and my brother together during our youth. They forever made me laugh with their endless ability to quote random movie lines at precisely the right moments.

He will forever be remembered and deeply missed. Please accept my sincere sympathies. Keeping all of you in my thoughts during these difficult days.
