Rev. Burrs was united in Holy Matrimony to Minister Betty Ree Burrs on November 2, 1958. He was the father of 4 children, 13 grandchildren, and 21 great-grandchildren, with one grandson preceding him in death.
Rev. Burrs relocated to West Palm Beach, Florida, during his early life. He worked for the City of Riviera Beach as a licensed master carpenter and heavy equipment operator.
As a young man, Rev. Burrs enjoyed the outdoors and valued family life. His spiritual journey began when he joined Hilltop Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Griffin Davis Sr. After joining, he committed his life to the Lord and faithfully served in various ministries.
Rev. Burrs developed a passion for Sunday School and often accompanied his wife to Mount Calvary for Sunday School before attending his own church service.
Answering the call of God, Rev. Burrs became a licensed minister and later an ordained pastor. He studied the Old and New Testament at Palm Beach Community College. Over the years, he served at multiple congregations, including Hilltop and Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church, before being called to pastor Peaceful Zion Missionary Baptist Church on May 16, 1978.
Under his leadership, the church grew spiritually and physically, adding new ministries and completing major renovations.
Rev. Burrs retired from active pastorship in 2017 after nearly four decades of dedicated service. He was succeeded by Rev. Edward L. Woodbury.
