

William Augustus Wilson, affectionately known as Billy, was born on August 27, 1942, in Pleasant City, West Palm Beach, Florida, to the late William (Gus) Wilson and Annie Mae Wilson. Surrounded by the love of his family, he transitioned peacefully into eternal rest on Saturday, May 3, 2025, in the comfort of our family home.
Billy was a proud graduate of Roosevelt High School, Class of 1960, and continued his education at Florida A&M University, where he graduated in 1964. A true Rattler, he was a proud member of FAMU’s legendary Marching 100, where he played the tuba. Known for his athleticism and charm, Billy also played basketball and earned the nickname “Cool Breeze” for his smooth dance moves.
In 1964, Billy married the love of his life Faye Wilson and they began their journey through life together.
Billy dedicated 39 years of his life to educating and inspiring youth in the Palm Beach County School District. Beyond the classroom, he was a beloved youth football and basketball coach, as well as a Sunday School teacher at St. Paul AME Church. His commitment to community and mentorship touched countless lives.
A passionate sports enthusiast, Billy was a devoted fan of the Atlanta Braves, Miami Dolphins, Miami Heat, and the Miami Hurricanes. His energy, wisdom, and humor will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Mr. Wilson was preceded in death by his sons, Eric L. Wilson and Seneca L. Wilson, Sr.; his parents, Annie Mae and Gus Wilson; and his brothers, Marvin Wilson and Donald Wilson (Glenda).
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving and devoted wife of 62 years, Faye T. Wilson (“Killa”); his children: Selina Candler (Mark), Elgin David Wilson, Sr., and Jonelle Bullard (Corey); and eleven beloved grandchildren: Erika Johnson (“Princess”), Seneca L. Wilson Jr. (“Papa”), Elgin Wilson Jr. (“Champ”) (Sophia), Keandra Wilson (“Angel”), Corey Bullard II (“Boo-boo”), Jaylin Bullard (“Precious”), Erwin DJ Johnson (“Baby Boy”), Eric Wilson (“Big Man”), Caden Bullard (“Billy”), Elysse Wilson (“Tiny”), and Carson Bullard (“Gus”). He also leaves behind great-grandchildren Naomi Wilson (Senika), Syre Wilson (Papa), and Reign Wilson, along with his special cousin Loretta Sermon and a host host of extended family and cherished friends.
A visitation for William will be held Friday, May 9, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at St. Paul AME Church, 3345 Haverhill Rd N, West Palm Beach, FL 33417. A funeral service to follow immediately at 11:00 AM. A committal service will occur Friday, May 9, 2025 at 1 PM at Royal Palm Memorial Gardens, 5601 Greenwood Ave, West Palm Beach, FL 33407.
