

Gene was born in Louisville, IL on September 28, 1928 to Edgar Pearl and Stella Mae (Sparling) Goble.
He is a veteran who served his country between WWII and the Korean War; he entered in May of 1947 and was honorably discharged in May of 1950.
Gene married Marilyn Cutright on March 17, 1953 in Carmi, IL.
He worked in the oilfields for over fifty years, retiring at the age of 80. Gene found enjoyment in rabbit and squirrel hunting with the boys, and just being outdoors was where he preferred to be; whether it was cutting wood, mowing the lawn or tinkering. In the early 70’s he could often be found stock car racing at the White Squirrel Speedway. Gene’s kids and grandkids were #1 in his book, and “He loved Moms’ cooking!”; Mom, being the mother of his nine children, Marilyn.
He was preceded in death by: his parents, one granddaughter, Adrianne Pina and nine siblings: Rosemarie, Sherman, Therman, Tony, Betty, Billy, Tris, Clarie Mae and Tom.
Left with wonderful memories are his wife, Marilyn, five daughters: Derinda Goble Tynan, Rory (John) Yates, Lannie (Tony) Hayes, Macy (Clarence) Bell and Revel (Eric Honnold) Turner, four sons: Kim Goble, Barry (Lisa) Goble, Tod (Tammy) Goble and Dink (Denise) Goble, two sisters: Lou (Walter) Hundley and Selma Franstead, two brothers: Jim (Carole) Goble and Ron (Jeanie) Goble, seventeen grandchildren: Jade and Seth Lemmons, Landon and Logan Yates, Lindsay Summerfield, Ethan Goble, Kyle, Jacob and Justin Goble, Sydney and Cale Hayes, Mariah Nichols, Megan Raber, Mallory Goble, R.J., Dalton and Santana Turner, and 17 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Friday, November 13, 2015 from 5 to 7 PM at the Zion United Methodist Church in West Salem, IL.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, November 14, 2015 at 10AM at the church. Burial will follow in the Zion United Methodist Cemetery in West Salem with military rites.
The family has asked that memorials be given to the West Salem American Legion McCormack Post 658 or Richland Memorial Hospital ICU/Med. Surg. Units. Envelopes will be provided at the church.
