Beverley Walker, age 87, passed away peacefully on May 26, 2025, at 2:53 AM. Born on August 24, 1937, in The Pas, Manitoba.. She was predeceased by her parents Archie & Etta Hunter, her siblings Hazel Johnson, Graeme Hunter (Laraine) and Lynn Gunn (Don). She is survived by her lifetime love Chuck Walker and her children Shannon (Tim Webb) and Scott (Anna Wallner); her grandchildren Joe, Lola, Jacqueline, and Josephine; and her sister Gayle Hunter (Brian Moghadam), her brother Kevin Hunter (Shelley Clements).
Bev spent her early years in Telegraph Creek, British Columbia where her father ran the Hudson Bay Trading Post. Even as a young girl, Bev showed remarkable determination, having to move away from her family to attend school in Vancouver from age 7 through graduation from Kits High School.
After completing school, she embraced a spirit of adventure, moving first to Alberta and then to Hawaii. While visiting her parents in Telegraph Creek, she became friends with the local nurse Gladys (Walker)Lennox, who introduced Bev to her brother in Edmonton. Chuck would become the love of her life and their relationship blossomed into a romantic and eventful courtship, eventually leading to their marriage on February 2, 1962, in Edmonton, Alberta. She and Chuck lived in Edmonton before moving to BC, back to Edmonton, and eventually settled on the North Shore where they lived and raised their family for over 50 years.
Bev carried a lifelong love for curling and golf, known for being one of the straightest hitters and best putters around. Many of her longest-lasting relationships were forged on the course in West Vancouver at Capilano Golf Club and in Palm Desert at Santa Rosa Country Club. Bev was a generous friend, always dedicated to those she loved, and an incredible entertainer who brought people together with her culinary talents. Throughout her life, Bev was never afraid to try new adventures – she and Chuck travelled extensively visiting Europe, Asia, Africa and South America. Bev was the matriarch of the Walker family, the glue that held everyone together. She was known for her incredible organizational skills, which kept every aspect of her family's life running smoothly. As the cornerstone of Chuck's business ventures, she provided unwavering support and partnership, playing an integral role in his success. Bev was a devoted mentor and guide to her children and grandchildren, inspiring everyone with her quick wit, incredible memory, captivating storytelling, and passion for adventure and travel. Her appreciation for sharing a glass of wine and a beautiful glass of scotch enriched the lives of all who knew her.
A celebration of Beverley's life will be held at Capilano Golf and Country Club on Thursday, July 10th at 2 pm. In keeping with her vibrant spirit, we invite everyone to wear colourful, celebratory attire that reflects the joy and warmth she brought into our lives. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to BC Cancer or Lion’s Gate Hospital Foundation. We would also like to thank Gina, Vanja, Kristi, Dana and Evelyn for the incredible care and companionship that they offered to Bev over the final months of her life. And we are grateful for all the love and support from family and friends as we remember and celebrate her remarkable life.
