Feb 16, 1920 – Apr 11, 2022
Millie passed away peacefully on the morning of April 11, at the age of 102 years. She is predeceased by her husband of 65 years, Frank Sr., her sons Frank Jr., and Lawrence, and her Grandson Tony. Survived by daughters Janeah (Gio), Julie (Doug), and Rose; Sons Nat (Kim), John (Susan), Daughter-in-law Pat, 18 Grandchildren, 17 Great Grandchildren, one Great Great Grandaughter; sister, Vera, brother Fred and many nieces and nephews.
Mom, Grandma, Great Grandma, Great Great Gramma, Aunt, Sister, Wife, Friend, many things to many people. Millie was born at home in Vancouver, one of 13 children. She will be remembered for many things, but her very green thumb was legendary, we all know the story: one of her bean poles she had stuck in the ground started growing! Her beautiful crochet and knitting work. She made Cowichan Sweaters before we even knew they were called Cowichan Sweaters, and her toques are still keeping our heads warm after all these years, not to mention the dozens of cozy colorful slippers keeping our toes warm. Her crocheted tablecloths and baby sweaters and beautiful doilies are real treasures. She will be missed for her delicious Italian cooking, legendary homemade pasta – which she would roll it out with a long rolling pin that Dad made for her; and her famous Christmas Eve Donuts after midnight mass. She went on several fishing trips with Dad when they belonged to the Silver Harbor Fishing Club, and loved to hook a big one. She took wonderful care of our father in the years after he retired, cooking his favorite meals and being his eyes when they traveled. And she must have had a heart of gold to put up with his little stashes of ‘junk’ everywhere around the house. Mom’s home was our family hub and was always open and welcoming to friends, extended family and neighbors. We will all miss you Mom, rest in peace, enjoy being with your boys and Dad again.
