After fighting a brief illness, Daniel went home to be with his Lord on September 14, 2024, embraced by his wife of almost 20 years, Helen. He is remembered by his wife Helen and son Abraham; brothers Moses (Avelina) Chiok and their children, Paul and Leah, brother, Samuel (Deborah) Chiok, brother Joshua (Cherry) Chiok and their children Zachary and Johann; sister-in-law Janet Chiok and her children Jeremiah and Johnny and many other extended family members. Daniel was predeceased by his parents Daniel (Sr.) and Pacita (nee Po) Chiok and brother Jonathan Chiok.
Daniel grew up in the Philippines, cultivating a deep relationship with his savior Jesus. He moved to Vancouver at 17 to attend university and post his studies, and at his father's behest, he supported the direct care of his mother for several years when she became ill.
During a visit home to Manila, he was introduced to Helen, an evangelist from China and a Bible school student in Manila then. Dan would recall that, when he first saw Helen, JESUS spoke to him and said that she would be his wife. After a brief courtship, the two were married in 2004, and settling permanently in Vancouver they welcomed their son Abraham in 2007.
Daniel and Helen, together, served the call of GOD, giving support to many ministries all over the world and touching many lives. This has been a marker of their family and will continue to be their legacy, though Daniel has been called home.
The Celebration of Life for Daniel will be held at Coastal Church at 1160 West Georgia, Vancouver BC on Saturday, October 05, 2024, at 1000 AM.
A foundation in Daniel’s name is being set up to support ministries important to the family, in lieu of flowers, donations will be gratefully accepted, through a cheque in Helen’s name - JunLing Zhu or an e-transfer to [email protected] or 778-882-1705.
