Donald William Carle

Don was born in Calgary Alberta and moved to Edmonton as an infant. He graduated in Electrical Engineering from The University of Alberta in 1957. He also did some studies at Harvard for a business diploma. Following graduation he moved to Montreal to work for Dupont. There he made many friends including Lois Hoveland whom he married in 1961. To this union were born 2 children. Todd 1962 (Irene) and two grandsons Kai and Kona and Nancy 1967 (Shawn). He was predeceased by his younger brother Bruce and survived by his sister in law Carol and their children Shawn & Cathy. Don was smart and innovative. He enjoyed success, always walking his own path. He spent several years with Motorola and became Vice President of Canada. From there he went on to form his own company TRIDON COMMUNICATIONS which is still in existence today in Alberta. He later moved to British Columbia and then with a partner Hans Krutzen purchased a company called Spilsbury & Tisdale. Hans handled the office and Don traveled the world. He loved his adventures. Don loved the outdoors and was an avid skier and sailor. He joyfully sailed his boat “Sardiff” for many years. Even racing it in the Vic Maui Race. Around that time met and married Shannon Sheppard, who brought with her four delightful step-children into his life, Kelvie, Roger, Mollie & Bill. He was subsequently blessed with numerous step -grandchildren whom he loved dearly. Don's favourite place was Hawaii. Todd and his Dad spent many days together there on the water and made many friends. Todd spoke to his Dad at the minimum once a week. Todd consulted with him on all his entrepreneurial adventures at which he is very successful, and later just joked and just talked trash as Don would say.

On Shannon’s passing he married Patti and acquired 4 more step grandchildren and one great grandson that he was very close to Caton. He had a great sense of humour and really enjoyed company. He will be missed by all his family along with his many friends. RIP Don.
