Mrs. Dorothy Travis

Our mother, Dottie, a remarkable woman of courage, strength and faith passed peacefully in her sleep in the morning of April 28, 2015 at the age of 97. She had lived independently in the waterfront home she loved until late October 2014, when she moved to Sunrise Senior Living in North Vancouver and enjoyed their outstanding care and assistance. Born in Indianapolis, Indiana, she became a professional model with the definitive look of that era. She marred Buzz (A.W. Travis) in 1943 and eventually a business opportunity brought them to Canada in 1955. A West Vancouver resident since 1957, she enjoyed membership in Capilano Golf & Country Club, gardening, travel, bridge and her family. She is survived by her daughter Susan (Gary) of Forest Grove, OR., sons Thomas of Denver, CO, and David of Kansas City, MO, her grandson Todd (Shauna) and her darling great-granddaughters London and Jorja of Surrey, BC. She was predeceased by her husband Buzz (1994) and her grandson Shane (1997). Memorial service will be held at Hollyburn Funeral Home, 1807 Marine Drive, West Vancouver on Wednesday, May 6, 2015 at 2:00 p.m.
