Fernand Leopold Sorel

August 7, 1923 – October 1, 2021

It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our Dad, Fred Sorel who left us on 1 Oct, 2021. Fred was born in Oostende, Belgium in 1923 and escaped to England by boat with his family when the Germans invaded the city in World War 2. He later enlisted in the RAF (Belgian Division) and trained as a Navigator Bombardier under the British Commonwealth Aircrew Training Program. While based in Prince Edward Island, he met and married Marie, the mother of his 3 children. Fred retired in West Vancouver from the Insurance Industry after a long, successful career and enjoyed 38 years of retirement. He will be missed and lovingly remembered by his children; John (Kathy), Peter, Patricia (Kirk), grandsons; Nikolas (Rochelle), Alexander (Taylor), extended family in Belgium and all those who befriended him.

The Family would like to thank the wonderful staff of 7 West at LGH and the North Shore Hospice for their care and attention in helping Fred enjoy his final days.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Lions Gate Hospital Foundation. No formal service will be held.
