Mrs. Grace Emily Carr

CARR, Grace Emily (nee Stewart) – Left us on September 29, 2013 at the age of 86. Predeceased by her loving husband Joseph, survived by her son Michael (Barbara), daughter Alison (Alex Gauld), granddaughters Meredith and Siobhan Carr, plus many nieces and nephews. She was the youngest of eight children of Charles and Margaret Stewart of Montreal, predeceased by her older siblings Elizabeth, Margaret, Charles, George, Norman, Arthur and James. In the 1950’s Grace was a stewardess for Canadian Pacific Airlines and travelled the world in DC-3s and DC-4s, at a time when air travel was both exciting and glamorous. She married Joe in 1957 and they ultimately settled in Thornhill, Ontario. Following Joe’s passing, Grace moved to West Vancouver in 1991. Grace cherished seeing her many friends at the bi-weekly meetings of the North Shore Stroke Recovery Centre. Many thanks to her caregivers Simonette, Maureen and Mary Anne Guevarra, Marina Cariaso, and the staff of Lions Gate Hospital and the North Shore Hospice. No service by request. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the North Shore Hospice through the Lions Gate Hospital Foundation (LGHfoundation.com) in North Vancouver, BC.
