

Resident of Vancouver, BC.
Born in Newtownards, Northern Ireland and emigrated to West Vancouver, Canada in 1976, she died after a courageous and dignified 2 1/2 year battle with breast cancer in the loving embrace of her family. Loved in life and mourned in passing by her family and friends.
Beloved youngest daughter and fourth child of May (nee Robertson) and Joe Whiteside,and by Audrey, Maureen (Chris), Joseph, Tony (Bonnie Hay) and Colin (Elise), and her nieces / nephews: Jenna and Nicholas, Katie (Nate Hudson), Anna and Jacob. She is mourned also by the extended family circle throughout the United Kingdom. Her loss is felt deeply by her close circle of girlfriends, work colleagues, and those she met during treatment.
In her adult life she worked for the Scotia Bank especially with the Commercial Banking section. Her client service commitment, detail and ethical standards were admired by all. Helen had many loves in life particularly travel (she visited many places and loved France, Greece and Montenegro the most) reading and cats.She was an avid Vancouver Canucks fan. Helen lived her life with honesty, integrity, dignity and grace and ensured her final days were also dignified, comfortable and pain free.
Her Mom and Dad thank her for the frequent assistance she provided over the years.
The family thanks her medical team of specialists over the past years, those at the BC Cancer Agency and the exceptional and gifted staff in Palliative Care at St. Paul's Hospital who took care of her during her last 3 weeks.
A private Cremation Service will be held. A Celebration of Life for Helen's good life will be held at a later date. At the family's request no flowers or wreaths. Donations in Helen's memory can be made to the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of Canada, The Breast Cancer Society or the SPCA.
For the United Kingdom the Marie Curie Society and the RSPCA are requested.
She will always be held close in our hearts and thoughts. Helen is whole again and in a better place.
