Harvey passed away peacefully on December 29, 2025, at Amica Lions Gate in West Vancouver.
Harvey was born November 30, 1933, in Cranbrook, B.C., to Eleanor and Frank Bridges and grew up enjoying the outdoors and excelling at sports of all kinds. He grew up with an older sister Maggie and younger sister Lois.
After graduating from High School, Harvey moved to Vancouver and studied at UBC for 2 years before moving to Edmonton to complete his dental school education in 1957. There was no dental school in B.C. at that time. Harvey practiced in South Burnaby for over 30 years and enjoyed dentistry as his profession.
Harvey met his wife Jean on a blind date arranged by one of their mutual friends. Jean and Harvey celebrated 65 years of marriage shortly before Jean’s passing in 2023. Together they enjoyed many travels and friends and playing tennis and bridge. Family gatherings were always a highlight. Dad also enjoyed fishing throughout his life and was an early member of the “Loony Birds” dentists’ fishing club, who travelled annually for many years to Janice Lake for a fly-fishing expedition and associated hijinks.
In addition to Jean, his parents and older sister, Harvey was sadly predeceased by his sons Allan (1991) and Ron (2004).
Harvey is survived by sons David (Michelle) and Greg (Diane), and grandchildren Sydney, Megan, Allison, Katy, Cameron, Lisa, Kayla and Kai, great-granddaughter Daphne and sister Lois.
There will be no service at Harvey’s request. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the charity of your choice.
