Karen Wilson Charlebois, 78 of Vancouver, B.C. passed away unexpectedly Saturday, May 22, 2021 at Vancouver General Hospital. Karen was born Karen Elaine Wilson with her twin sister Carol Leone Wilson on September 14, 1942 in Detroit, Michigan to parents Leone Jochen Wilson and Oscar Wilson. The family moved to Champaign, IL in 1948 where Karen graduated from Champaign High School in 1960. She then attended Illinois Commercial College in Champaign before moving to New York City in 1963, where she worked as a private secretary in real estate companies and law offices. She also trained for and completed the New York City Marathon three times. Karen had lived in Naples, Italy for four years when she was previously married. After a divorce, Karen met future husband Robert Charlebois in 1981 and began a life of travel and adventure, living in Pebble Beach and Lake Tahoe, CA, then locating permanently in Vancouver, Canada, where she and Bob became Canadian citizens. Karen and Bob enjoyed golfing and taking multiple, global trips and cruises to Europe, Asia, Australia, New Zealand, Africa, the Middle East, South America, Alaska and Antarctica as well as travels coast to coast in Canada and the US. In addition to golf and travel, Karen also enjoyed cooking, reading and communicating with friends & family. On May 15, 2021 Karen suffered a severe stroke and passed away on May 22, 2021 in Vancouver. Karen is survived by her husband Robert Charlebois, her twin sister Carol Wilson of Sag Harbor NY, sister Carmen Wilson Beard of Schaumburg IL, brother Rollin Wilson of Rochester NY, sister-in-law Kate Whitney Wilson of Springfield IL, and numerous nieces and nephews. Brother Dennis Wilson pre-deceased her in 2015. Karen will be greatly missed by her Husband, as well as all her family and friends who knew her and loved her.
