”A life well lived, a woman well loved”.
With both thankfulness for a life well lived and
sadness for our loss, we announce Kay’s peaceful
passing at Lions Gate Hospital on May 29, 2014.
Appropriately her hospital window viewed the North
Shore Mountains, whose beauty enthralled her for
80 of her 94 years.
Kay married her West Vancouver High School
sweetheart, Bill, who was asked by his teacher to,
“Get Katherine a chair!” on the first day of school. She
would become a devoted wife and friend to Bill for 59
years. Together Bill and Kay enjoyed travelling,
gardening, memorable summer times in Osoyoos,
exploring the outdoors, and raising a family. Bill’s
passing in 2002 left a big hole in Kay’s life.
Kay was a dedicated and loving mother. Her family
was her greatest joy. Her love and encouragement
will be greatly missed by her adult “kids” Ann (Earl),
Bob (Carmen), Jay (Kathy), and Kit (Jim). Kay’s
legacy also includes her beloved grandchildren
Brian, Andrew, Cameron (Bre), Ross (Leia), Sean
(Kim), Ellie, Crystal, Matthew, and Arthur. Grammy
was always so proud of you all! She was also Great
Grammy to Conner and Lily. Kay and her family are
all very grateful for the loving companionship of Liz
Anne Kikstra in her final season.
Kay greatly admired the natural world and was an
advocate and donor to numerous wildlife and
waterfowl groups. One of her favorite past times
was to point out the beauty of creation as well as
the beauty she saw in other people.
Kay’s friends and family are invited to a Time of
Celebration and Thanksgiving on Saturday, June 14,
2:00- 4:00 pm at 270 Lions Bay Ave, Lions Bay.
Guests are encouraged to contribute to a charity of
their choice in Kay’s name.
